'Banana Nite' Comedian Jobert Austria aka 'Kuya Jobert' Attempts Suicide

Comedian Jobert Austria a.k.a. "Kuya Jobert" of ABS-CBN late night comedy show "Banana Nite" was on the news yesterday after an attempt to jump off a building of a Hotel in Quezon Avenue in Quezon City.

The comedian told the QCPD policemen who took custody of him that his life was in danger after her girlfriend's former partner sent him death threats. The former partner found his whereabouts via his cellphone's tracking device and sent him malicious texts about killing him. This made Jobert Austria depressed and feared for his life and decided to have an attempt to jump off the building of the hotel. The comedian is said to having personal problems. Luckily, Jobert Austria (Kuya Jobert) did not continue to jump off the building and is now safe. An investigation is going on about this incident. (Source)

It's so unfortunate that this suicide attempt has to occur when people are depressed or having a depression. Ending your life is not the solution to your problems. We've lost a seasoned comedian in Hollywood via Robin Williams and I cannot afford to lose another comedian via Kuya Jobert this time. I'm sure Kuya Jobert can handle all these things. Jobert Austria a.k.a. Kuya Jobert is one of the funny guys on YouTube way back in his simpler days, when he was not yet an "artista" and known only as Kuya Jobert. I remember his videos in YouTube and watching them again also bring back funny moments.

Below are three of what I think are the best videos of Jobert Austria a.k.a. Kuya Jobert.

Kuya Jobert: Peras

Kuya Jobert: Dingdong

Kuya Jobert: Kamias

Pushing the Reset Button and Starting Over Again

My life as a writer in my previous company ended on Valentine's Day of this year. Like a broken-hearted teenager, my relationship with my previous company ended up with not much drama. I had to cut the more than seven years of love-and-hate relationship because I felt that one of us is already getting hurt. Who knew? Maybe the seven-year itch also came to visit? So on Valentine's Day, I made the ultimate decision that will change my life forever.

5 Reasons Why You Should Watch "Kick Ass 2"

Kick Ass
The sequel to the comic book movie adaptation of "Kick Ass" has already been shown in movie houses and theaters almost a month ago and most of us, including myself, have watched it with much hype and anticipation. I really love how "Kick Ass 2" was done. I think most of you would agree to me that this is a better "Kick Ass" movie than the first one. However, despite the movie's "has been shown" status, it is not always the reason not to watch "Kick Ass 2." The movie's DVD version will be coming out soon, and once again, the hype that is "Kick Ass" will be alive again.

So, if you are worried whether you want to watch this movie or not, well, here is my list of reasons why you should watch "Kick Ass 2" on the much anticipated release of its DVD version.

It's The Season To Be Jolly!

And I am not talking about Christmas yet! It's this time of the year once again when the inner couch potato in me is released, thanks to the much-awaited return of my favorite hit American TV shows. I mean, who can't resist their newest seasons, right? And who can't say no to Zooey Deschannel? The longest season perhaps that I am religiously following is already 8 years old! That's 8 freaking seasons that I just can't let go! No way, man! Besides, Barney Stinson is the inspiration of this awesome website and why it has come to life! Who doesn't want to be awesome, right?

Because "Ermengerd" Is The New OMG!

"My thoughts... exactly!"
I have been very busy these past few weeks, thus I wasn't able to blog or write anything awesome, lately. My job schedule in a publishing company actually won't allow my brain cells to produce some creative juices, that's why I am very thankful for weekend breaks such as this day. I really miss writing random awesome stuff here in my blog. I really can't help saying it, but Facebook and Youtube were cut off in the office, too! I mean, come on, "all work and no play makes a man dull"! No, really! And besides... Facebook and Youtube were being used to research for photos and relevant videos for "whatever we are doing"... Hays... Some things are clowning off a bit too far these days...

I have been insane also, lately... Officework is really killing me! Overtime work (up to 10 PM the most), meetings with authors, work-related pressure, etc... Sometimes, I really wanna scream... "Ermengerd!" at the top of my lungs! Hahaha! Oh well...

A Tale of Titanic, Christmas Party Presentation, and An Episode Memory of High School

The RMS Titanic in the movie.
"Go to your room now, Jun-Jun and we will watch Titanic," said by my high school classmate Brian (not his real name) to his little brother, Jun-Jun (not his real name, too!) as he commanded his little brother to remove himself from the sala of their house and went straight to his room. Not long after that, the then pirated VHS tape has found its way to the VHS player, and the next thing we knew, we were hooked on what's the "IN" thing during that time. Titanic was such a huge success back in 1997 when it was first released, video pirates actually had it in VHS tapes format! Just imagine.

When a Girl Decides to Make the First Move: Your Awesome Guide in Confessing Your Feelings!

lifeisabeautifulstruggle.tumblr.com
This was a guest post by my friend, Angge.

"I'm also just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her."

Familiar with the lines? Maybe you are one of the girls who gave Julia Roberts a standing ovation when her character as the superstar Anna Scott confessed her feelings to an ordinary guy named William Thacker, played by Hugh Grant, in the romantic comedy film 'Notting Hill'. If this line baffled you, maybe you are a guy who's not used to a girl being vocal to her feelings. If you are totally clueless and cannot relate on stuffs like this, please... you may want to stop reading the blog and watch the movie first so that you can relate to this blog entry. Hehehe.

Anyway, I tried to be Julia Roberts once and told a friend that I'm in love with him — twice! Yup you read it right. Twice! But don't think that's so easy for me to tell my friend that I love him. I'd rather be blunt than to be suppressed with the emotions I'm trying to keep. I'm not being arrogant here, I'm just being honest. And I'm not trying to make things complicated between me and my friend, I just feel like betraying him if I can't be honest with my feelings for him.

So, I asked some guy friends about how they would feel if a girl confesses her feelings to them. One of them told me that it was awkward especially if he doesn't like the girl but in the end it can be flattering, too! Some guys would still think that it's not normal for a girl to be the one who make the first move (or confession). Some guys are cool with it. However, there are some guys who take advantage of the girl's feeling and snatch not just the girl's heart but also her dignity and virginity.

I guess I'm just lucky enough to meet a guy who doesn't take advantage of me and understands how I feel.

Girl's Guide on How to be Awesome in Confessing One's Feeling for the Guy That She Loves Most

From Oricon High School animé

Telling vs. Asking

Before you rush up and do something silly and tell the object of your affection that you love him, think first, be prepared, and ask yourself these questions: 1) can you do this?; 2) are you willing to compromise your friendship?; and 3) are you really in love with him or you just love the idea of being in love with him?

Before I told "the guy" that I have some "love" feelings towards him, I asked myself first if I'm really feeling something special for him. I thought about it a lot. Several times that is! Will he understand? Will this be liberating for me? Or perhaps will it make everything more awkward between the two of us?

Sometimes, telling someone that you like or love him has its advantages and disadvantages. It is important to ask yourself if you are just doing this because you want him to know how you feel and/or you are expecting something in return. If your real reason is the former, I suggest you forget about the confession. Remember, you are TELLING him that you love him, and NOT ASKING him to love you back. Those are two different things. You have to make it clear to yourself that you are just expressing what and how you feel so your intention/s (if there are any) will also be cleared when you tell the guy about it.

Woman of Steel

If you already mustered enough courage to tell him how you feel, keep in mind that courage isn't enough. You must be humble enough to accept rejection. Your heart must be made of steel — so hard as steel so it can handle the painful part of rejection and melts with fire to stay in love despite the rejection. But of course, you must be gentle enough and still act as a woman.

In expressing your feelings, control your emotion first. Feelings and emotions are again two different things in this situation. Share with him what you have deep down your heart without being overly dramatic. The situation itself is heavy with drama so you don't need to add up more. And of course, a little prayer would also help. (Novena to St. Dwynwen and to St. Jude (for hopeless cases) would help A LOT.)

And last, don't ever (100x) expect that he will love you back. Always remember that love is a two-way street, a give-and-take relationship. Yes, he might give you credit for your courage but of course, it doesn't mean that he would return the feelings to you. Every girl must understand that sometimes, even if we go miles away for love it will not always be reciprocated.

Loving someone entails sacrifice and pain. Real and sincere love doesn't keep records and understands. If the person you love can't love you for whatever reasons he may have, learn to live with it. After all, love is the most important thing in this kind of situation, not relationship nor mutual feelings.

If you are not lucky enough to end up with him, don't close yourself to others. Learn to forget him and wait for the right person. Who knows, the next time love comes your way, you will be the one who will listen to someone else's confession of his undying love for you.

Exactly how I feel at the moment...

Friendzoned But Happy

I am not lucky enough to have my feelings reciprocated but I'm really thankful that we are still friends and I am happy with my current relationship with him right now. We might not have that "love" relationship but our friendship gets stronger and deeper.

I must admit that I keep on falling for him despite all the rejections. I know someday I must forget him and go on with my life without him. But for now, I'll be contented with me just being friends with him. Love doesn't have to be always painful it is supposed to be a positive emotion. Being happy in love doesn't mean that you always have to be loved back, it only means that you choose to be happy despite the pain of unrequited love.

And for all women of the 21st century who are like me who confessed their love to the man who they truly loved, here's an Adele song for all of us!

The "Diva Moment" Experience!

"I'm a soul diva! Got problems?" | www.catwalkqueen.tv
This was a guest post by my friend, Angge.

Whether you like it or not, do it intentionally or unintentionally, there are times that everything around you suddenly changes. All eyes are on you, you feel that you have elevated, you get blinded by the glaring spotlight, and you feel that you are the “awesomest” person in the house. Boom! Ladies and gentlemen, let's give it a hand for Mr. or Ms. Booyah! Instant celebrity, right? That is what I called the diva moment experience. And I'm not just talking about the “singing diva” kind-of-thing. This is about someone who steals the spotlight from anybody by acting as if he or she is superior over everybody else. It doesn't matter if he or she has the right to act that way. Diva moments can happen to anyone. And yes, it could also happen to you.

Whoa! So, how can one has the right to be a diva? There are people who intentionally act like a diva because they earned a degree from the Awesome School of Divaness majoring in BS Bossyness or AB Bitching. Sometimes, it's just run through their veins. But there are times that the shining moment just happens because one did something incredible or uttered something amazing. Diva moments can be a positive or a negative. It might be a real laugh trip or a nasty moment that you just want to forget.

Let me share to you some diva moment experiences that I have witnessed first hand.

The Fastfood Diva

When I was in college, we used to run to the nearest fastfood outside our college's building to grab some snacks before the next class starts. We usually order burger, sandwich, fries, or any food that is easy to munch while listening to a lecture. We have this new classmate who came from abroad. She belonged to a batch one year higher than our batch so that makes her older than most of us.

One day, as we waited for our orders at the counter, my two friends and I heard a loud and somewhat ridiculous complain from one of the customers. As we turned our curious heads we were surprised to see our new classmate shouting at the fastfood crew because the poor girl forgot to include ketchup in her take-out fries. That was one loud and insulting rant from her. She even called the crew stupid. Of course with that eardrum-breaking shout and sharp words, she became the center of attention. We are ashamed not for the crew but for her. How can a college student acted like a child throwing tantrums because of a ketchup? Sheesh...

Lesson learned: never dine in a fastfood with her.

The Matinee Idol Diva

This encounter happened when I was working as an event organizer. I met and worked with a lot of artists and production team. This encounter was one of the most unforgettable experiences in working with celebrities. Mr. Former Prominent Matinee Idol had me rolling my eyes when he asked for a separate waiting room. Yes! Big artists like him demand things like that. But isn't that too much for a one-time appearance during the event. All he has to do was to say hi and throw some spiels to introduce one of the performances. Man, he didn't have to stay for long. He was not performing and he's not the highlight of the show.

Since we were really having problem assigning waiting rooms for the performers and we just find his demand really unnecessary, we decided not to include him in the list of celebrities who will appear in the program. He was not a great loss, really.

Lesson learned: once a "has been" always a "has been"

The English-Speaking Diva

Ever encountered an unaccommodating sales lady at the mall? I did. The usual saleslady we always encounter in malls is overly accommodating sometimes. They follow you as you choose what to buy, they keep on giving you unsolicited suggestions regarding the item you are looking, and just stands too close to you as you look at the items in her area. That is annoying but not as much as annoying as a saleslady who ignores me because I don't look rich enough to buy something inside the mall.

I was buying shoes at that time. I need size 9 for the flats that I chose so I approached this saleslady. She kept on ignoring me and seemed too lazy to accommodate my request. So when she finally gave her attention to me, I asked her in English if size 9 is available. She suddenly felt intimidated and responded to my request. I don't mean to be a diva at that time. But sometimes, one has to be a diva to get equal attention from discriminating persons such as this saleslady. I might be dressed like a pauper (well, not really) but I can pay for that pair of shoes. *Snap, snap, snap (snapping in air as if writing the letter 'Z')*

Lesson learned: Always reserve some English vocabularies in your pocket... you'll never know when will you use it!

We are all entitled to be diva sometimes. But one has to be reasonable in making “demands” like a diva. Act like one if it is needed. And don't steal the moment if you'll just rant like an old woman or throw tantrums like a spoiled brat. Try to be nice in asking and if it doesn't work, that's the only time you have to steal the spotlight. Be classy and awesome in your diva moment. Demand politely but with authority. Intimidate but don't discriminate. Impose what is right for you without sacrificing your morals. And remember not to resort in being a diva everytime you asks for something. That is the awesomest way to be a diva. *Snap, snap, snap*

And for all those divas out there, divas at heart, divas in the making, or people who experience different diva moments... here's an awesome music video from Beyonce! *Snap, snap, snap*

A Tale of Just Me Attending Movie Premiere Nights!

More than a year ago, I wrote about my very first experience on attending a movie premiere night. Several movie premiere nights later, I am still attending premiere nights and press screenings of the latest movies that are soon to be showing in town! Thanks to the awesome people at 20th Century Fox (Philippines), especially to Ms. Mae, for giving me the opportunity to watch different foreign films from their movie outfit for FREE! Attending movie premiere nights is such a wonderful and awesome experience!

Being an awesome guy, attending premiere nights and press screenings are like a big social responsibility that were vested upon me by whoever had the power to do it. Due to limited seats, not everyone is entitled for a FREE seat. So, it is such an awesome honor if you are given an opportunity to attend like this one.

Funny is the New Sexy: A "New Girl" Addiction Rush!

There are certain things that a woman can be attractive to a man. But for me, I only set three standards. First, she must be intelligent; second, she must has a short hair; and lastly, she must has a good sense of humor. Although, Zooey Deschanel's character "Jess" in her new American TV series, "New Girl" wears a long, wavy black hair, it is far more important for me that a girl is intelligent and has a witty sense of humor. Zooey Deschanel never failed my expectations.

A Tale of the Left-Over Raisins!

According to Looney Tunes, raisins are dried up bowling balls. I believe. True story.

Well... if you are wondering why is there a "tell a tale" here in my awesome blog, I figure out, it is not hurtful for me or for my awesome blog to go beyond the usual. I thought, "hey, this is my blog, so I can write anything from it". So here it is... the finish product of my self-deliberation, and hundreds, no, maybe thousands of arguments with myself to include at least once in a while, some tell-all experience from my awesome life. Because I am awesome enough to include a tell-all experience, I might enjoy putting some, maybe, many here. Hahaha... but wait, this is just the beginning. I am thinking of putting another item here... and that's coming soon!

A view from my plane going to Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia (sent via Mobile Internet)

If you are reading this whether on google reader, via email, or through this blog entry on my main blog itself... chances are... I am now in Malaysia and having a vacation! It's my long-dream to come to Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, and experience Malaysia first hand. However, I always find no time to travel, that's why I took the long vacation weekend in the Philippines to go to this beautiful island of Kota Kinabalu.

A Red Carpet Premiere for MovieNews!!!

It's been a couple of weeks of ago when I asked blogger-mate friend Richie of Idiot Box to join me in my quest to have a movie website which can cover everything about movies. He immediately said yes, because I am such a person having some good sales talk abilities! Nyahahha...

It is my dream of having of having my own domain. I can't purchase one, I don't have the money. Hehehe... But another blogger friend trusted me with his domain name and I said, "Oh yes! It is my honor to have that domain name and I am willing to serve you master..." I love you, dude! You know who you are! Aaaaww!

20 Signs You Are Addicted To "The Big Bang Theory"!

I have been watching the American Comedy TV Series "The Big Bang Theory" these past few months, and I must say, I am very much satisfied with what I am seeing on this very intelligent TV sitcom. These past few months of watching got me really hooked and I think I am getting addicted to this geeky series in the US, which by the way being shown on Philippine shores via Jack TV. I never had a chance to watch it on television, but I had watched a few episodes of The Big Bang Theory online for free.

To be green or not be: that is the question!

In my attempt to do a Shakespearean poetry for our science magazine, here I am posting a self-made environmental version of the William Shakespeare's famous poem "To be or not to be", but this time, it's nothing like the original version — the length, the rhyming words, the stanza, the metrics — nothing very much alike!

The poem that you will about to read did not make it in print. I decided to change the supposed poem to something more essay-ish. But luckily, I kept this poem as remembrance of how I am not-so inclined with poetry and with the environment. Hahaha... By the way, I put a picture before the poem itself to have a Zorlone-ish feeling about the poem... Nothing personal... hehehe... I hope you enjoy reading this! Hehehe...

A Tale of MacArthur*!

I tried. Believe me. And many people did. Why is it so hard for me... for us... to make you follow? You are such a hard-headed creature! Don't blame me if everyone dislikes you! It was you who gives out the creeps in us!

You keeps on coming back even if everyone is turning you away. I just can't believe your character! You are one great creature made with so little understanding. You just don't get it, do you?

A Tale of Judaism in the Philippines!

It was Thursday, April 16, when my friend and former officemate celebrated her 26th birthday, her last birthday as a single person, yeah she's going to be married in a few days time... when I finally met my calling. I know it was so revealing of me, I cannot commit myself to anyone, I am so loyal with my "chosen religion".

It was an emotion I cannot argue with myself. I must admit. I am one of those people who shows so much emotions whenever their "chosen religion" was being mentioned, brought to a pedestal or perhaps agitated with so much criticisms that you can or cannot imagine. I know. I am one of them. I mean who else can you blame?

It's freaking hot in the Philippines!

And I'm in heat! (And no.. it's not something sexual!)

It's been more than two weeks already when I finally feel the scorching hotness of summer 2009, and the heat seems really pissing me off! I mean... it's soooo freaking hot I am very hesitant to move or work or even do chores at home because I would only produce five gallons of sticky perspiration. Who would want to experience that.. literally?

Time has really changed the earth... the summer atmosphere ten years ago was sooo freaking different than today... I remember I only experienced this kind of hotness in the atmosphere's temperature when I went to Ilocos Region last year. The scorching summer heat there was really something, no wonder they have sand dunes there!

Back in Manila, the temperature is ranging from 32-35 degrees Celcius! I think there was a time within a span of two weeks that the temperature went to a 37 degrees Celsius! Now that's freaking hot! I can't freak more because I might get sticky sweat!

Last Holy Week, a vacation time in the Philippines was really a sacrifice for us who stayed at home for four long days of no work. Our bungalow house experienced a really hot temperature... I actually thought I would die of dehydration. Luckily, water is actually my best friend when it comes to drinks! I just stuff myself with much water to replenish me and quench my thirst!

The two exhaust fans were running like crazy to release the heat from the inside of the house, three electric fans were also making us cool, and drinking cold water with ice (which makes the coldness redundant) were not cool enough to... well... cool us! That's how freaking hot the atmosphere was and is!

I think this hot weather temperature in Metro Manila has something to do with humidity. If you look in the sky, you would know that it's going to rain because of the dark thick clouds forming... but the thing is, the rain will not fall... (and the saddest part of it is) anytime! Mr. Webster has defined humidity as the wetness in the atmosphere — the thing that makes us feel the sticky sweat! Again, may I add... who wants to get a sticky sweat? Who?

It's been more than two weeks now and yet the scorching summer heat does not bring any rain in our place (I live north of metro manila)... I have receiving reports that there was precipitation in Makati and some other parts in the Philippines but in our place, there was none.

I never experienced taking a bath three times a day! This has happened to me last Holy Week vacation. I took a bath in the morning to refresh my body from last night's sleep, which by the way was so freakingly irritating because it was and is still hot. I also took baths during the afternoons and of course before I go to sleep. Now that the office work has finally resumed, I only now take two baths a day! That's two baths a day — before going at work and before going to sleep — because it soooo freakingly hot!

I wish it would rain this time or maybe later at night and tomorrow for the weekends to replenish the dried soil and plants and to become cooler when we go to sleep... haaayyss *sigh* can you actually count how many times I wrote the word "freaking"? I rest my case! Just ranting...
